Villa Penyu Located on the paradise island of Gili Trawangan at the quiet southern end of Sentral, Villa Penyu is Gili T’s only private luxury villa situated right on a sandy swimming beach . Just the round-island cidomo (horse and cart) track separates you from a pristine white sand beach with excellent snorkeling, while 50 metres offshore is one of Gili Trawangan’s best dive sites. An attractive, light and airy two-level, three bedroom contemporary home built for easy-going beachside living, Villa Penyu has an enclosed tropical garden, 10 x 3 metre fresh-water swimming pool and relaxation bales, all designed to give a superior level of comfort and style to your Gili Trawangan experience.
Facing the island of Lombok, Villa Penyu offers spectacular picture-postcard sunrise views of Gunung Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest volcano (see photo gallery). In the foreground is the turquoise sea, the white sand beach and a passing parade of cidomos, surfers and, in the late afternoon, those heading to the sunset-viewing bars 10 minutes further around the island.
Villa Penyu adjoins the Ko-ko-mo Resort and enjoys use of the hotel’s restaurant, guest services and facilities. If you wish to dine in the villa or bales, intercom connections from both upstairs and downstairs enables ordering from Ko-ko-mo’s restaurant while connection to the resort’s reception facilitates booking activities and making or re-confirming travel arrangements.

Villa Penyu offers you a superior level of comfort and style.
Downstairs is an open living/dining/kitchen area plus the master bedroom with built-in robes and an ensuite shower and bathroom. Both living area and bedroom open on to a wide wooden sundeck with sun lounges and an outdoor shower for after the beach or pool. Upstairs is a central sitting area flanked by two large bedrooms, each with their own ensuite and shower. Both bedrooms and the sitting area open out to a wide balcony and there are luxurious daybeds at either end for curling up with a book or just admiring the view.
All 3 bedrooms are equipped with in-room safes, air-conditioning, and overhead fans and the ensuite showers and basins are fresh-water. Both the master bedroom downstairs and the sitting area upstairs have Satellite TV and DVD/CD players.
For a chilled-out drink and a close-up view of the surfing, hang out at The Surf Bar on the beach next door or stroll down to The Trawangan and relax in their ‘tree-house’ bales – great cocktails and beautiful sea views. Just three minutes walk back up the beach towards the wharf brings you to Villa Ombak and a further two to leading restaurants and bars including Scallywags, the Beach House and Tir Na Nog (the Irish Pub). Villa Ombak’s open-air cinema on the beach runs throughout the Dry Season while Diego at the Villa Ombak Diving Academy runs one of the best dive operations on the island.
Yet once you have had your fill of the island’s many pleasures and activities, Villa Penyu lets you chill out in total peace and privacy.
Local Information:
Gili Trawangan is the largest of the three Gili Islands lying off the north-west coast of Lombok. Measuring 3 km long and 2 km wide, it has a local population of around 700. Although the most developed of the Gilis, there are no motorized vehicles on the island. Instead the main means of transportation are bicycles and cidomo (a small horse-drawn carriage), both of which are easily rentable. Horse riding is available through ‘The Stud’ ranch just five minutes walk from the villa in the southern part of the island.
For traveling to, from and between the Gilis, locals and visitors usually use motorized boats and speedboats. There are also several fast boat ferry companies (www.gilifastboats.com) that operate between Bali and Gili Trawangan direct (1,5h) or via Lombok (2h).
